This Saturday, Sen. Mark Udall (D-Colorado) will host a listening session at 9:30 a.m. May 18 in Golden to hear community comments about his Browns Canyon National Monument and Wilderness Area proposal.

FYI: OFA hopes to have a dozen or so there waving “Thank You” signs to thank Sen. Udall for his support of the background checks bill and the high capacity magazine ban. Even if you can’t wave a sign, this is a great opportunity with Sen Udall.
Film Screening of “The Dream is Now” at DU – 5/22
- Denver Univ, Davis Auditorium
- 5/22, 6:30 – 8:30, The film is about 30 minutes, followed by a panel discussion and Q&A
The Dream Is Now, a new 30-minute documentary film by Davis Guggenheim (Academy Award-wining director of An Inconvenient Truth), tells the moving story of those directly affected by a broken immigration system, the undocumented children of immigrants who yearn to contribute more to the country they call home. This thought-providing film puts a human face on the issue and brings attention to Congress’ efforts to pass reform that will give undocumented youth and and their families the chance to earn their citizenship.

Mountain Area Democrats monthly mtg – Saturday, 5/25
Join MAD for their monthly meeting up here in the mountains. A good way to stay up to speed if you can’t get down to the monthly Jeffco Dems meeting down the mountain.
This will be the last meeting of the summer, with the meetings starting up again in September.
The guest speaker for this month’s meeting will be Kitt Darrow, from the Evergreen Parks and Recreation Department.

The Second Saturday Breakfast on June 8, 2013, will highlight the Education and Finance Bill that passed this session. We will hear more about the strategy moving forward and what will be needed from the Jeffco. Dems. to assist in getting the ballot measure passed this fall.
Meeting time is 8:00-10:30. Breakfast and social chatting starts at 8:00, the official meeting starts at 9:00. As usual, it’s at the American Legion located at 1655 Simms Street, Lakewood.

The 2013, Legislative session will be over next Thursday, we will have an end of session review at our Second Saturday Breakfast on May 11, 2013, at the American Legion located at 1655 Simms Street, Lakewood, starting at 8:00am. This session has been very active so please plan to attend to get first-hand knowledge from our Legislators. Max Tyler, Andy Kerr, Sue Schaffer, Evie Hudak and Cheri Jahn will be attending.

CANCELLED – Jeffco School Board – Candidate Al Rodriguez campaign Kickoff on 5/10

Hi,
I am saddened to report Al Rodriguez has withdrawn from his candidacy for a Jeffco Board of Ed seat for personal reasons. He reports his decision was very difficult and heartbreaking. Obviously, the May 10th Kick Off event has been cancelled.
